OVERVIEW

The Burden of Blackness II is Ed Maximus' second sculpture in a series of two conveying the feeling of being Black in America. This piece was originally sculpted with clay then molded and casted in Jesmonite with fiberglass reinforcement and finished with Black pigment. It is being reproduced with the original mold in a limited edition of 1 + 1 Artist Proof. The piece will be engraved and numbered at the bottom by Ed Maximus. A Certificate of Authentication will also be provided.

MATERIAL

Jesmonite is a composite material made of gypsum and acrylic resin. It is extremely durable, flame and impact resistant. It is used to fabricate both small and large objects and can be finished to look like stone, metal, wood, or plaster. It is often used in conjunction with fiberglass to further increase its durability.

Option to cast the sculpture in Bronze is available for an additional price. Email studio@edmaximus.com to inquire.
